Color Film 101: Introduction to C-41 Processing

Curious about developing your own color film? This hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop introduces the fundamentals of C-41 color negative processing, from chemistry to final scans.

Participants will bring one fully shot roll of C-41 color film and learn the complete workflow, including:

  • An overview of C-41 chemistry and the development process

  • Step-by-step, hand development of color film

  • Best practices for consistency, temperature control, and handling

  • Intro to scanning color negatives and getting usable digital files

This class is designed for beginners and those new to home color processing. No prior darkroom experience is required. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a solid understanding of how color film is developed and scanned, and the confidence to continue exploring the process on your own.

What to bring: One fully shot roll of C-41 color film (35mm or 120)
